PitPilot

Low & slow, minus the babysitting.

PitPilot clips beside your smoker, watches temperature and humidity in real time, and mists your meat on schedule — while plugging straight into the probes you already own, wired or wireless.

It watches the fire. You take the credit.

Kickstarter launch · limited to 500 units

We're not building another walled garden.

Every big grilling brand wants you locked into their app, their probes, their subscription. PitPilot's whole point is the opposite: unify the grilling tech you already own into one simple, automated system — so the win goes to the person standing at the smoker, not to whichever company sold the most proprietary hardware. No cloud account required. No monthly fee. No pressure to rebuy probes you already own.

Works with probes you already own Zero subscriptions No cloud account required Lower cost than brand-locked systems Repeatable results, every cook Portable — clips onto any smoker
Interoperability first

Built for the gear already in your kit

PitPilot's mission is unifying grilling tech, not adding another proprietary probe to your drawer. Here's what plugs in and connects today.

New — wired channel

Wired meat probe input

A panel jack accepts any standard K-type thermocouple meat probe — the same connector style used across the replacement-probe market, not a proprietary plug. Same target-temp and alarm settings as the wireless channel.

  • Standard mini thermocouple connector (SMPW-K style)
  • Works alongside the wireless channel — monitor two different cuts at once
  • Auto-detects when a probe is plugged in
Wireless — auto-connect

Broadcast-style BLE probes

PitPilot passively reads temperature straight from the probe's Bluetooth signal — no pairing, no app, no account.

  • ThermoPro TP96x / TP97x family
  • Govee BLE meat thermometers
  • Other open-broadcast BLE probes

Probes that require their own app/account pairing (MEATER, ThermoWorks RFX, FireBoard Pulse) aren't auto-detectable yet — that's a bigger integration we're evaluating for a future release, and we'd rather say so than overpromise.

10-second overview

Dry meat is a choice. Make a different one.

01

It watches

Pit temp, meat humidity, and ambient conditions — tracked continuously, without opening the lid.

02

It mists

A food-safe pump fires on your schedule — every 30 minutes, hourly, or triggered by humidity.

03

It guards

Over-temp protection with your choice of response: spray, alarm, or both.

04

It remembers

Every cook logged — temps, misting, weather, weight — so your best brisket is repeatable, not a fluke.

Set it. Smoke it. Sleep.

Setup in under two minutes

1

Program on the touchscreen

Four taps, no app or account required to get started.

2

Monitor remotely

Check in from your phone over WiFi — built-in dashboard, no cloud middleman.

3

Replay your best cook

Pull up a saved cook program and run it again, exactly.

Why we give a damn
"We didn't want to automate the craft. We wanted to automate the anxiety — and the busywork of fighting other people's proprietary gear."

PitPilot started with too many 2 a.m. wake-ups to check on a smoker. It grew into something bigger once we realized the real problem wasn't just misting — it was that every serious grilling gadget on the market wants to own your whole setup: their probe, their app, their subscription. We think the technology should serve the person at the smoker, not the other way around. So PitPilot talks to the probes you already bought, keeps everything running locally with no cloud requirement, and stays priced like a tool — not a walled-garden platform.

Here's exactly where PitPilot stands right now

No vague "coming soon." Here's the actual state of the actual hardware, updated as it changes — not a marketing timeline.

Done

Firmware

Dual meat-probe monitoring, FDA safety warnings, and mist control — built and running on real hardware, not a concept sketch.

Done

Wired probe design

Full pin-by-pin wiring confirmed against the actual board — every connector, every pin, verified.
